The platform

Keep the source beside the reasoning.

Work from a company’s reports to a view you can explain. Keep the unanswered questions and revisit them when new evidence arrives.

Understand the business before the conclusion.

Start with how the company earns money, what it costs to operate and where the important uncertainties sit. Keep source material close to the explanation. A useful company view should make it easier to see what you understand and what still needs work.

Make the thesis explicit.

Write down the premises behind your view. Keep an observed result distinct from management’s explanation and from your own expectation. Note what evidence would support or weaken each premise. A thesis is more useful when it can be questioned.

Follow the questions that remain open.

New filings and results can change the evidence without settling the question. Keep the observation with the original thesis and the next thing you want to establish. Watchlists give that follow-up work a place to live.

Keep the decision in its original context.

Record what you decided and why, including a decision to keep researching. Revisit that reasoning alongside later evidence. InvestorTrace supports research and investment decisions; it does not place trades.

Bring the question behind your research.
